Denso expands its Brazilian plant and builds a new technology center
Recently Denso (Brazil) company Barbara new plant and technical center was put into operation. The Santa Barbara plant is the second branch of the Denso (Brazil) company in Brazil. In January 2011, it began producing automotive air-conditioning systems and cooling stencils. The Santa Barbara plant recently introduced new production equipment and is expected to start production of starters and wipers in September. As of 2015, the total investment of the new plant is approximately 205 million reais (about 100 million U.S. dollars), and 800 jobs are expected to be added. The Brazilian Technical Center is the first technology center installed in South America. It has been in operation since early July. It mainly develops automotive air-conditioning systems, starters, generators and powertrain related systems, and other equipment required to design the South American market. Denso has technology centers in China and India. Hiroshige Shinbo, president of Denso (Brazil), said: "We expect the demand in South America's auto market will continue to grow. Santa Barbara will increase its production capacity in South America and open up markets for new products while maintaining existing product customers. The center will help Denso reduce R&D cycles and provide competitive products to the region faster.â€
