"Dongfeng" China's only Volvo Ocean Race boat has been successfully delivered in the UK. The first round of the "Dongfeng Team" open selection trial was held in Sanya and the Sanya Banshan Peninsula sailing port was selected as the Dongfeng team training base. So far, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle has exclusively named the "Dongfeng" sailing boat. The preparations for participating in the Volvo Ocean Race have been carried out in an all-round way. This has enabled Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle to commit itself to the smooth promotion of the "Dongfeng" brand global promotion strategy. 
Since October 30, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle announced that it has started the Volvo Ocean Race and all preparations are proceeding according to plan. Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles join hands with Volvo Ocean Race, which is based on the background of the strategic alliance established between Dongfeng Motor Group and Volvo Group in January this year. The specific actions of the two parties to play a synergy effect is an important part of the global market strategy of Dongfeng brand commercial vehicles. At present, the "Dongfeng" racing boat has been manufactured in the UK and successfully tested the sea. The trial flights and various tests have been carried out very smoothly and are ready for shipment to China. The first round of Chinese crew selection activities will begin in Sanya at 8 am on December 16 and end on the evening of December 17 for two days. The first phase of Chinese selection activities will focus mainly on finding Chinese sailors who dare to meet this challenge. During this period, all candidate crews will perform a 36-hour physiological function test and will participate in a series of tests including team building tests and psychological tolerance tests.
The number of Chinese crew applications received by the Dongfeng team has greatly exceeded expectations. Among them, 20 candidate crew members will have the opportunity to participate in the first round of crew selection. From the perspective of the curriculum vitae, there are some great sailors who have a strong body and a willingness to learn. They speak fluent Chinese and can perform basic conversations in English. Some of them even have experience in high-profile international competitions.
The Dongfeng crew’s training plan will start immediately after the “Dongfeng†squadron arrives in China. Foreign professional crew members will also participate in training with Chinese crew members. The final crew list will be announced in June next year.
The new Volvo Ocean Race will depart from Alicante, Spain, on October 4th, 2014, with Cape Town (South Africa), Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Sanya (China), and Auckland (New Zealand) on its way.
