Japan Tests Space Cannons to Explore Underground Asteroids
Japan's Tokyo-Japan Space Exploration Agency (JAXA) announced on Wednesday that it has successfully tested a space artillery, which will bring underground samples of the "1999JU3" asteroid. This instrument, a combination of one and two devices, will be launched next year like asteroids in 2018 and brought back to Earth in 2020. When you reach the orbiting asteroid, éš¼ 2 will release this "Space Cannon" and then put a guard on the other side of the asteroid. Asteroids explode and emit metal, creating a crater that will later touch the probe to taste underground.
Scientists at JAXA believe that it is more interesting to analyze the ground material on the surface of this asteroid, which will be permanently changed by exposure to cosmic rays. In 2003 introduced a similar probe éš¼2 to take samples from the asteroid Aikawa, but using different techniques. Understanding the materials of the celestial bodies can help JAXA research and development institutions to better explain the conditions under which the Earth and the emergence of life are formed.
