In an interview on the eve of the opening of the Guangzhou car, Heizman pointed out that Volkswagen plans to exceed 1.5 million vehicles in Huaneng Energy by 2025. He said that Volkswagen will definitely invest more in the field of new energy vehicles. The Chinese government is vigorously promoting that China's overall environment is also promoting new energy vehicles.
In China, new energy vehicles (including electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles) increased their overall sales by more than four times in 2015, while new energy vehicles continued to grow in 2016.
The Volkswagen Group's first new energy vehicle, which was put into production in China, is part of the Audi brand and is produced in cooperation with FAW. Volkswagen Group and SAIC are also cooperative, and they plan to sell plug-in hybrid vehicles in China in the future. International automakers must produce cars in China by working with Chinese automakers, and in general there can only be a maximum of two joint venture partners.
Volkswagen said in September that Volkswagen and Jianghuai Automobile have signed a preliminary agreement to jointly produce electric vehicles. This agreement is not a final agreement and still needs approval from the Chinese government. Heizman said: "We have made good progress in cooperating with JAC." As the government encourages the production of low-emission vehicles, he hopes the Chinese government will approve Volkswagen's third joint venture in China. Heizman also said: "The usual legal provisions only allow international automakers to have two joint ventures, and pure electric vehicles make the third joint venture possible."
