On January 6th earlier, the Volvo Group issued a statement that it had completed the acquisition of a 45% stake in China Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. with a transaction amount of 5.51 billion yuan.
After the completion of the acquisition, Volvo Group and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle will form an associate company. The company focuses on mid- and heavy-duty trucks, medium- and large-sized passenger cars, and special vehicle parts and components as well as vehicle development and technical consulting services. It is understood that the new joint venture company is expected to be formally established this month, with Dongfeng holding 55% and Volvo 45%. In accordance with the contents of the previous two-party agreement, the management structure, the new company's board of directors consists of seven directors, of whom four were appointed by Dongfeng, the other three were appointed by Volvo and the chairman was appointed by Dongfeng. 
On June 20, 2014, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology formally issued an announcement to the public, saying, “In accordance with the relevant regulations, the new vehicle manufacturing enterprises that will be announced in the “Vehicle Production Enterprises and Products Announcement†(No. 262) are publicized. Dongfeng Motor Group and Volvo Group signed a strategic agreement in Beijing on January 26, 2013, announcing the formal joint venture of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles. From a time perspective, the two-year approval process can be described as smooth.
In addition, Dongfeng Motor Group and Volvo Group will further reorganize the original Dongfeng Nissan Diesel in Hangzhou, and the renamed Dongwo (Hangzhou) Truck Co., Ltd. has officially launched a new product, Coolo, in late 2013.
