In order to reduce the impact of electromagnetic fields on the human body, the European Union has issued the standard EN62493:2010 on the evaluation of electromagnetic radiation for human body lighting equipment. This standard sets forth the requirements for the evaluation of electromagnetic radiation from human bodies.
Lighting equipment that requires electromagnetic evaluation in the standard includes: 1. All indoor and outdoor lighting equipment for the purpose of lighting, having the basic function of generating and distributing light, and intended to be connected to a low voltage power supply network or operated with a battery. 2. General lighting equipment refers to all industrial, residential, public places and street lighting equipment. 3. One of the main functions is the multi-function device for lighting. 4. Separate accessories for lighting equipment.
Currently, EN62493:2010 has entered a transition period. The bulletin issued on February 26, 2012 included EN62493:2010 in the list of harmonized standards for the LVD Directive, which was implemented on February 1, 2013.
