Foreign company trends: DuPont expands production of high-strength fiber Kevlar

According to foreign media reports, due to the increase in demand for Kevlar fiber, DuPont is expanding its Kevlar production facility in Maydown, northern Ireland, and is expected to start production this year. Kevlar fiber is a high-strength functional fiber that is widely used in the production of helmets, defensive armor, and bullet-proof vests worn by police around the world.
Kevlar fiber is 4 times stronger than other steel materials of equal quality. It not only can be used for the manufacture of military and security products, but also can be widely used in sports equipment such as tennis rackets, protective industry and casual clothing. The US Department of Defense is a large user of Dupont’s Kevlar products. The Kevlar products it ordered include helmets, vests, and blankets. Since the Gulf War in 1991, all American soldiers on the battlefield have equipped Kevlar helmets.
It is said that Kevlar fiber was developed by DuPont 40 years ago. For decades, DuPont and its partners have been developing a variety of individualized fibers for different applications. For example, the latest Airbus A380 uses lighter, higher-strength fibers.
