The refractometer has long been proven to be suitable for the detection of black liquor solids content. The linear change of the refractive index with respect to the black liquor concentration makes it relatively easy and accurate to measure the concentration. The refractometer can measure true solids content without being affected by bubbles, entrained air or suspended matter.
